Living In The World Of Social Media As A Teen

30 March 2018

Hey everyone! Happy Easter weekend!

I thought I'd write a blog post to share my honest opinion of what it's like for me to be living in the world of social media. I'm sure a lot of you will identify with some of this.

Social Media can be great, emphasis on the 'can'.

I think I use social media a little too much. It's something I check multiple times on a daily basis and then I end up feeling caught up in it. A whirlwind of information to take in, the feeling that you have to post and be active 24/7 or the negative vibes you get if you lose 20 followers in one week.

On the other hand, I've actually had so many positive things come out of me starting my Instagram. I have made friends, built up my own little corner of the internet and become a more confident, open minded person. Social media can make you feel like you're not alone and the power of people on there helping others is incredible.

But do the negatives override the positives?
This year I feel like it has been different for everyone. Some people's engagement has shot up and other's are going through a time where their business isn't growing. Instagram, can you sort yourself out please?

For me, Instagram is a place I use for inspiration, chatting to people I've found through it, posting photos I love and sharing my passions with people that support me. But what about the ugly act of comparing?

I find myself looking and scrolling through other blogger's accounts and over-thinking everything and wondering whether I'm actually doing a single thing right. Why can't I take outfit photos like her?

The truth is, there is no right way of doing things when trying to build up a following on Instagram. Everyone is different and sometimes the things that work for some people, aren't going to work for others. That's life.

To round this very ramble-y post up, living in the world of social media can be fun but it can also definitely feel like your swimming and you can't lift your head up to breathe.

What do you think?

  1. I think sometimes we just get too caught up in this fake world. Because no matter how helpful and good social media can be, it's still made up of filters, boosting tools etc.

    Great post! x
