Doesn't January always feel like the longest month ever? I tend to struggle so much with the darker evenings, especially when the week feels like a year and I'm dragging myself through to Friday. Like I do with a lot of my blog posts, I write them for me to take advice from too so hopefully we can all beat the January blues together. *insert punch emoji here*

1. Set small tasks for everyday
I love feeling productive but I hate feeling like I have underachieved. Being at school with lots of different bits of homework to do, some due in the next week or day, you have to be realistic with how much you're actually going to get done that evening. I normally try and get as much as I can do in one evening but it never usually works out that way. January is quite a slow (certainly long) and unproductive month but by getting small tasks done everyday, things might not seem so daunting.

2. Do more things that make you happy
Like I've said, January is a weird month but also it can be very boring. Christmas has been and gone (so sad) and now the only thing I can think about is Spring and Summer, I've got some exciting things to look forward to already which is great but it isn't going to make January go any quicker. As well as trying to keep up with the workload, I've been planning blog posts and writing a lot more already which is something I really enjoy (obvs) and would like to make more time for. We love to go on walks by the beach, I find it really clears and rejuvenates my mind. Perfect for beating those blues.

3. Declutter
I need to do this badly. I'm an organised person so things aren't messy but I could do with a clear out of my clothes and the storage under my bed. I never know how much this actually improves my mood until I do it so this is definitely next weekend's job. Starting 2019 as we mean to go on!

Also, not intentionally but I've realised I've made this post very colourful, I always think that wearing bright clothes or being surrounded by colourful things/blue skies boosts my mood all the time.

Beating The January Blues

Happy new year everybody! I hope you all had a magical Christmas and have had an amazing start to your 2019. I certainly had such a great Christmas and new year, now just so sad everything's over!

I wrote a similar post to this last year and loved creating it so I thought I would do the same for 2019 as this year is definitely going to be the year for all things colour. I'm so ready for it! Here are some of the fashion trends you may see pretty much everywhere in the shops this year...

1. Tie Dye
I first saw this and was a bit shocked as I was never a huge fan but it is true, the unique 60s print is definitely making a comeback. Obviously 2019s version is a lot more chicer. I love to add a bit of colour to my wardrobe especially in the summer so I am really excited to see different shops take on it and how I will, hopefully, incorporate it into my style. Whether you go for a yellow tie dye beach maxi dress (looks a but more subtle) or a bold matching two-piece, hopefully there is something for all you colour lovers.

2. Puffed shoulders
Bold shoulders are certainly not a new thing but this year everything is going to get a whole lot puffier. With pleats of elastic gathered at the shoulder, they would work so well with square necklines on dresses or a blouse. This one can be so versatile, in many different colours so perfect for those who have a more monochrome palette in their wardrobe. I love this one and can just picture a white puffed shoulder dress with a basket bag and a pair of brown sandals, lets just hope the weather is on our side because a jacket could be quite difficult to wear!

3. NEON
Oh yes, if you haven't seen it already, 2019 = vibrancy because neon is going to be huge this year. I would love to give this one a go as I think with the right things, it could look so cool. If I was to ever go to a festival or if any of you are going to one this year, anything like this with a pair of dungarees is how I probably would style a neon top. I would love to know your opinions on this one- definitely a marmite item.

4. Tortoiseshell jewellery or accessories
As you may have seen last year, tortoiseshell buttons were on every blouse ever to be seen but this year its all about the accessories. I actually received a pair of circle shaped tortoiseshell earrings for Christmas and have been obsessed with them ever since. You can get them in so many different shapes and sizes, I have seen and loved some hexagonal ones too! If you are looking for something similar to this, Asos and Topshop are like tortoiseshell central. I also received for Christmas, the Topshop faux fur bag with a tortoiseshell clip frame which you will no doubt see soon here on the blog, keep your eyes peeled if you're a fan of this trend. I love how easy it is to wear and how it can be worn many different ways.

How has it been a year since I last uploaded one of these? This is so cliché to say but it honestly feels like I've blinked and we've only got a number of days left of this year.
2018 has been an amazing year and full of memories I will never forget, which will all be shared in a blog post going up in the next week.
I always have mixed emotions about going into a new year; however, I love to get organised and think about the year ahead, obviously without wishing away Christmas. So here are the things I'm am going to try to achieve in 2019.

Focus on creating better fashion content
A dream of mine since I started blogging was to go on a photo shoot with a fashion photographer and next year is the year of that happening! Don't get me wrong, I love my family and friends taking photos of me but I think doing a photo shoot will be good for experience. I'm so excited for how everything could turn out next year and trust me, the quality of my instagram and blog photos are going to be on another level. I've been messaging @amifordphoto, the lovliest person ever, about shooting in Jan/Feb and I can't wait!

Take breaks
I am such a to-do list maker and I create unneeded tasks for myself which doesn't end well because my brain never stops! I always try to be productive everyday and don't let myself have a proper rest from everything I do. I find it difficult to switch off as once I've finished any school work I have to do, my mind reverts to everything blogging/thinking of new content. As you can see from me not uploading anything in what feels like forever to previous blog posts titled 'I'm back!', things can get too much. I never like to let something drop below my other priorities so to save this from happening, I'm going to have a balanced life (lol) and not create too many tasks that are not going to be achieved.

Get another job
Until about September, I had a job as a photographer/co-manager of the instagram for a boutique in my town but since then, I have been handing in a couple of my CVs to places and sadly, I haven't heard anything yet. I miss earning my own money and saving up for things to buy (mostly clothes) so next year, my mission is to find another job.

Think of positive things that happen each day
Most of the time I am a positive person but if something negative happens in the day, I will only think of that and worry about it. I love the quote, 'If it won't matter in 5 years, don't spend more than 5 minutes worrying about it today' as I think it's so important to see the good in every situation and forget about the things that aren't worth thinking about.

Starting 2019 with a fresh mind and oh I'm so excited about it!

What are your new year's resolutions?
